How long is an average installation?
As most of the work Craft Wales undertakes is of a bespoke nature, it is difficult to set a time for installations. Smaller projects may take a week whilst the larger projects such as outdoor classrooms and teaching areas can take up to four weeks depending on the area you choose to locate the products in.

What health and safety measures do you use?
When an installation is taking place at a school or other public area, Craft Wales ensures the work site itself is completely cordoned off to prevent pupils/public gaining access to any unsafe areas.

What timbers do you use?
Locally sourced hardwood - Oak, Sweet Chestnut etc The softwoods we use are Dougles Fir, Larch, Spruce etc - mostly sourced from the UK and as much as possible from within Wales. Other Timber from the various merchants we use is sometimes European. However, we pride ourselves on always using timber from managed forests.

All the drawings presented by Craft Wales' design team are drawn to scale and completely by hand.

Are all your materials eco friendly?
Craft Wales prides itself on using timber from sustainable forests within the UK wherever possible. Our roof covering of choice is Cedar shingle which is renewable and eco friendly. We further promote the use of a natural oil to protect all the timber we use.

What disruptions would we expect to have in a school environment?
Craft Wales tries to ensure all work is carried out with the minimum disruption to both teachers and pupils alike. Of course there will likely be some noise to contend with as well as the area we are working in will be fenced off and inaccessible for the installation period.

How should we look after the finished product?
On completion of each job, Craft Wales will coat the timber with an oil based product.
Thereafter, Craft Wales recommends that every Spring, the timbers are re-coated to extend their longevity and to help prevent cracking and splintering. This further reduces water penetration and helps in the prevention algae growth thereby lessening the slipperiness of the timber. Craft Wales supplies a range of recommended oil based and pure oil prodcuts.
